The Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) represents its members in the promotion of business in the renewables sector. Its vision to make Aberdeen “as famous for renewables as it is for Oil and Gas” was an attractive proposition for us.

This statement is one of the many reasons why we were drawn to joining AREG, joining over 160 like-minded organisations from across the globe in our ambition to drive a sustainable future.

Since our founding in the 1930's, we have grown substantially boasting a team of over 90 across our locations.  Having an innovative workforce has seen us diversify and become a leader in steel tubulars, metal recycling and decommissioning.

We approach all projects we are involved in with our consistent processing methods. Our compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations ensures that we can maximise reuse and recycling opportunities where possible, resulting in many projects concluding with a 100% reuse and/or recycle rate.

Achieving high results in reuse and recycling has seen John Lawrie Group contracted to carry out decommissioning work for some of the largest Operators in the Energy Industry; case studies of some recent decommissioning work can be found on our website.

Ray Grant (Environmental Director) has expressed his enthusiasm on joining AREG –

“This is a positive move for John Lawrie Group, it is important that we join forces with organisations that share the same focus as we do. The circular economy has been a growth area for us and it’s vital we seize the opportunity to drive a cleaner future We are looking forward to seeing the benefits of being an AREG member.”

John Lawrie Group is also a proud member of the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA), with our Managing Director, Dave Weston representing us on the Board.
