Project Summary

The items, including wellheads, christmas trees and ballast modules, were identified as having no suitable reuse possibilities, meaning dismantling and recycling was the chosen option. We undertook the onshore dismantling and recycling of the items, bringing them onshore at our licensed quayside at Aberdeen Harbour.

Items were downsized at the quayside to enable the cut pieces to be transported by road toour 4.5-acre licensed waste treatment facility in Aberdeen for full processing of the ferrous and non-ferrous metals to ESSS standard. They were then exported to European steel mills for recycling into new steel products, delivering significant environmental benefits.

A recycling rate of 100% was achieved, exceeding the 97% reuse and recycling target BP outlined in its decommissioning programme submitted to the UK Government.

We are the largest metal recycler and exporter of processed metal in North and North-East Scotland and an experienced member of the decommissioning supply chain. With current strategically located licensed facilities in Aberdeen, Shetland, Evanton and Montrose, and the addition of our new quayside facility in Dundee opening in 2020 bringing our combined annual licensed tonnage to 360,000 tonnes, we are your decommissioning partner of choice.
